Manchester is often cited as ‘England’s second city’ and it certainly is one of the most vibrant and exciting places to be.

The Cathedral is sited on the edge of the centre of Manchester and near Salford in the Medieval Quarter – a historic part of the city, alongside Chetham's school of music and the futuristic Urbis building.

In fact The Cathedral is developing strong links with businesses and agencies in the city and has a good working relationship with Manchester City Council and its officers. Business links include Harvey Nichols and the Arndale Centre which the Dean visits quite regularly to make himself available for conversation with shoppers.

We hope that the Cathedral, together with St Ann's Church, local businesses and the City Council, will appoint a city youth worker in the very near future.

The development of plans to redesign the area around the cathedral including the Medeival Quarter and parts of Salford will further enhance the mission of the Cathedral in the city.
