Manchester Cathedral Development Project
Our Aims
In 2021, Manchester Cathedral will celebrate the 600-year anniversary of the Henry V charter (1421) that transformed the parish church of St Mary into the collegiate church of Manchester. Cathedral status followed in 1847. See the timeline to learn more.
The main aims of the Development Project are:
- To enhance the Cathedral’s mission of worship and service to God;
- To secure a 600-year musical tradition;
- To improve accessibility to the Cathedral and the interpretation of its heritage;
- To protect and repair the historic fabric sustainably.
