The Cathedral community is devastated by the terrorist bomb at Manchester Arena in which over twenty people have been killed and about sixty people have been injured. The concert attended by mostly young people was intended to be an experience of fun and joy but has been made into a graveyard for innocent young people. Such acts of violence are unacceptable in our society. Our hearts go out to the families of those who have lost their lives and our prayers and good wishes go to all who have been injured. May our anger and outrage eventually lead to greater efforts to stamp out violence and acts of terror in our city. Manchester is a diverse city and we enjoy our diversity. I pray that our work towards building cohesion and peace may continue in the days ahead
Manchester Cathedral will be a place of prayer, reflection and hope in the coming days as we seek to deal with this tragedy. A book of condolence will be available for members of the public to offer support to the families of those who have died. We are available to provide any support and prayer for those who have been traumatised by this atrocity.
In the meanwhile we pray for all affected that God may bring strength to cope at this time.
