Cathedral clergy join forces with Manchester Arndale to polish their serve

The Dean and clergy from Manchester Cathedral were on their knees today at a special shoe-shine at Manchester Arndale.

They were obeying Jesus’ command to serve others by offering a free shoe shine to busy shoppers in the centre.

2,000 years ago Jesus washed the feet of his followers, and clergy have been washing the feet of their parishioners on the Thursday before Easter for centuries. The shoe-shine event is a modern twist on this tradition.
