Adrian Rhodes, Honorary Canon and Chaplain at Manchester Cathedral, has been confirmed as the next President of the European Association for Psychotherapy (EAP), and will be taking up office at the end of June, for a two year period.
The EAP is the European professional body for psychotherapy; it brings together the main professional bodies from a total of 28 European countries and 17 modalities of psychotherapy. Altogether it represents over 120,000 qualified psychotherapists from 41 different countries and 120 professional organisations.
Prior to becoming President of the EAP, Adrian was the General Secretary, then Vice Chair of the UK Council for Psychotherapy - the principal professional body for psychotherapists in the UK.
Adrian works as a psychoanalytic psychotherapist in the NHS and in private practice.
He was made an Honorary Canon of Manchester Cathedral in 2007 by the Bishop of Manchester, in recognition of his standing within the psychotherapy profession.
One of his first duties in his new role will be to represent the EAP at the World Congress in Sydney, in August this year.
