Following advice issued recently by the Church of England, in order to minimise the spread of any infections we ask you do not shake hands with others at the sharing of the Peace, and that you receive only the bread at Communion, not the wine.
Many of us automatically think that dipping the wafer in the wine is safer than drinking from the cup, but in fact dipping the wafer is more likely to spread infection than taking a sip! In addition, Holy Water has for the time being been removed from the entrance porches to the Cathedral.
