Diamond Jubilee Beacon on top of Manchester Cathedral

A network of over 4000 Beacons will be lit by communities and others throughout the United Kingdom, Channel Islands and the Isle of Man, along with the Commonwealth and UK Overseas Territories on Monday 4 June 2012 to celebrate Her Majesty The Queen's Diamond Jubilee.

The Lord Mayor of Manchester Councillor Elaine Boyes will light Manchester's Diamond Jubilee Beacon on top of Manchester Cathedral.

Dean of Manchester Rogers Govender said: "Manchester Cathedral is pleased to host the the diamond jubilee beacon on its rooftop to mark Her Majesty's 60 years on the throne. The Diamond Jubilee is a wonderful celebration of her life, witness and service to the nation through challenging as well as good times. I encourage all the people of our great city of Manchester to mark the diamond jubilee and to support our Queen and all that she does for her people."
