Easter and Holy Week at Manchester Cathedral

Please join us as we celebrate Easter and Holy Week at Manchester Cathedral. 

Our 2023 services and events are as follows: 

Palm Sunday 2 April 
Blessings of Palms, Procession & Sung Eucharist at 10.30am
Music & Readings for Palm Sunday at 5.30pm
Sung by the Cathedral Voluntary Choir

Holy Monday 3 April 
Sung Eucharist with Blessing of Oils and Renewal of  Vows at 10.30am
The Lamentations of the Prophet Jeremiah (Thomas Tallis) at 5.30pm

Holy Tuesday 4 April 
The Bishop of Beverley’s Chrism Mass at 11.30am
Choral Evensong at 5.30pm

Holy Wednesday 5 April 
Choral Evensong at 5.30pm

Maundy Thursday 6 April 
Sung Eucharist with Stripping of the Altars at 5.30pm 
followed by The Watch until 8pm

Good Friday 7 April
The Way of the Cross at 12noon                                               
St John Passion (J.S Bach) sung by Manchester Cathedral Choir with Manchester Baroque at 7pm

Easter Eve 8 April 
Easter Vigil with Diocesan Confirmation and Baptism at 6pm

Easter Day 9 April 
BCP Matins at 8.45am & Holy Communion at 9am
Sung Eucharist at 10.30am
Festal Evensong & Procession at 5.30pm
