Manchester Cathedral has set up a prayer station for the people of Greater Manchester to pray for refugees.

The Very Reverend Rogers Govender, Dean of Manchester said:

“Manchester Cathedral is here to serve a diverse city, answering God’s call to churches to reach out with compassion to those who suffer.

I am deeply saddened that so many have lost their lives fleeing their homes in other parts of the world, including Syria. We grieve these unnecessary deaths and pray for all caught up in this situation. We pray that the government have the courage to make a safe haven for refugees to our country.

I pray that we, the people of Greater Manchester, will show refugees generosity, compassion and love.

Many religious communities in this city, including Manchester Cathedral, are standing by to provide any practical assistance needed to support refugees".
