Manchester Cathedral plays host to a huge range of events, exhibitions and tours this summer, but one event or more particularly, one guide, stands out in the line-up.
Blaise Wilcockson, at the age of 10 years and 11 months, is Manchester Cathedral’s youngest ever tour guide and will be leading a medieval safari around the Cathedral on the next two consecutive Fridays.
Complete with his intrepid explorer pack, safari hat and powerful binoculars, young Blaise will leave no medieval stone unturned in his quest to seek out the menagerie of wild and exotic beasts lurking behind the pillars, towers, stones and the quire of this magnificent building.
Blaise’s mother, Education Officer at Manchester Cathedral, is confident in her young son’s ability to track down and bring back to life some of the weird, wonderful and bizarre stories and legends which are part of the building’s 600 year history.
Tour guiding is in Blaise’s blood as he has, from an even younger age, accompanied his grandfather on his coach tour business and taken to the microphone on numerous day trips out across the North West of England.
Families are warmly invited to this FREE tour and to come along, pick up a pair of binoculars and join the scouting expedition on this 30 minute medieval safari.
