Visiting choirs perform at Manchester Cathedral throughout August

On weekends throughout August, we’re welcoming visiting choirs from across the UK to Manchester Cathedral.

On Sunday 6 August, Tallis Consort will perform during our Eucharist service at 10.30am and again during Evensong at 3.30pm.

The Tallis Consort is a semi-professional vocal ensemble combining the North of England’s finest singers. The membership of the consort is unique by creating a nurturing environment where talented young musicians stand side-by-side with recent music graduates and professional singers alike. The consort typically numbers twenty singers performing a vast repertoire with an emphasis on Renaissance polyphon.

On 12 August Te Decet Hymnus Choir will perform during Evensong at 3.30pm, and on Sunday 13 August they will sing at both the Sunday morning Eucharist at 10.30am and Evensong at 3.30pm.

Te Decet Hymnus Choir was formed in 2018 by its Director, Chris Bond. Since then, the choir has flourished with over 50 members, and has sung at seven different cathedrals to date, most recently, Peterborough and Gloucester.  They are delighted to add Manchester Cathedral to this list.

On 26 August, St George’s Church Choir, Stockport, will perform Evensong at 3.30pm, and on Sunday 27 August they will sing at both the Sunday morning Eucharist at 10.30am and Evensong at 3.30pm.

St. Geoge’s Choir is a thriving church choir based in, Stockport, South Manchester. It has a core membership of 30 singers including a large number of Junior Choristers who have joined the Choir within recent months and now sing for weekly morning and evening services alongside the adult members.

A number of our adult members travel from as far as 40 miles away to sing week by week, such is the appeal of being in the Choir at St. George’s.

All are welcome to these services to worship with us in person at Manchester Cathedral, or online live on our Facebook page
